Pearl Harbor, the romance of WWII

 

Pearl Harbor is a 2001 movie directed by Michael Bay.

The movie happens during WWII and starts before the events of Pearl Harbor.

It is the story of two best friends, Rafe McCawley (Ben Affleck) and Danny Walker (Josh Harnett), who always dreamt to become pilots and join the air force.

Rafe fell in love with the nurse who let him enter the air force even if he had eye issues. He goes to the UK for a mission and leaves her and Danny in the US and both of them are working in Pearl Harbor.

Rafe got killed during this mission and Danny and Evelyn fall in love while he's supposed to take care of her for Rafe.

In fact Rafe survived the assault and came back to Pearl Harbor. Rafe feels betrayed by both of them.

Pearl Harbor got attacked by the Japanese and the Americans decided to do an offensive against those who dared to attack them.

Danny and Rafe were on this mission and Danny didn't come back alive.

Evelyn told Rafe before the mission that she is pregnant and Rafe understood it was Danny's but when he came back he decided to raise the child with her, they called the child Danny like his biological father.

I enjoyed it but 3 hours while focusing on a love story is quite long while they could put more historical things in those 3 hours. I would have enjoyed this movie even more if they focused more on the historical event. It's not against the romance but it was boring like yeah Evelyn you love those two men and you know it isn't fair to love Danny while you grief Rafe... Come on girl shut the fuck up and make your mind.

3.5/5 It's a good romance but if you like history "fly you fool" you shan't watch it for that.
