Princess and the frog, a rewriting of the tale
Princess and the Frog is a 2009 (I refuse that it is that old) Disney
cartoon directed by John Musher and Ron Clements.
In New Orleans during the Roaring 20s Tiana, a young black woman, dreams to
open her restaurant.
She keeps her savings and juggles with 2 jobs to pay for her restaurant but
when she finally reaches the amount of money to pay for the place she
couldn't have it (racism, and as a child I haven't understood the implicit
meaning).
Her best friend Charlotte is a rich white girl who dreams to marry a fairy
tale prince and when she learns that Prince Naveen is coming during the
carnival she's dying to meet him during the party that her father throws up.
Unluckily the identity of the prince was stolen by his servant with the
help of Dr Facilier.
Tiana's knows about it by Naveen himself, who was turned into a frog. She
tries to break the curse by kissing him even though she's disgusted (I
completely understand because it's not safe to kiss a frog). Unfortunately
she also got turned into a frog.
They had a lot of difficulties and had new friends throughout their journey
in the Bayou trying to break the curse and defeat Dr Facilier.
I really love this Disney because Tiana is the first and only black
princess, because it's the very first Disney princess movie that I have seen in theaters and also because Tiana and Charlotte represent my best friend and I.
5/5 I mean this Disney Princess has a specific place in my heart.
See you next week for the next article. We can even share a raclette together.
