Movies anecdotes

This article is going to be special because I will give you some random anecdotes from the movie sets.

I wanted to change from what I usually do to break the monotony of this blog.

I hope you'll enjoy it.

I put the link to the extracts that I am about to talk about when needed.

Let's start with the trilogy of the Lord of the Rings, there's a lot of fun facts during the shooting of the saga.

All the fans know about this fact but I had to start with this one; the scream that Aragorn does is a real one because Viggo Mortensen actually broke his toe. It's a painful scream and every fan wants the novice to know about it and even remind the fans themselves (we love this game of who will say it first).

In this scene Ian McKellen really banged his head on the ceiling, it was unscripted but kept in the final editing.

This last fun fact about this saga will be on Gimli because the actor who plays the dwarf, John Rhys-Davies, was the tallest actor of the fellowship and was playing and of the smallest character (not the smallest because dwarves are between 4' and 5' while hobbits are between 3' and 4' in Tolkien's universe).

Now I will continue on another big franchise: Harry Potter (I should make an article or many I don't know yet how I will do it because there's 8 movies about Harry Potter and 3 movies about Fantastic Beasts).

Daniel Radcliffe had 160 different pairs of glasses through the entire saga because they broke. He also broke between 12 and 20 wands through the saga, Daniel Radcliffe doesn't remember the exact number of wands he broke but that's the fork of the number of broken wands he has.

J.K. Rowling was asked to play the role of Lily Potter but refused because she's an author and not an actress (I'm glad she refused because I would block even more to rewatch the movies because of what she thinks).

Helena Bonham Carter once scared her son's friends, that she apparently didn't really like, by taking off the wand of her character.

In this scene Daniel Radcliffe's scream was so strong, loud and so moving that they had to mute it and put some music at this moment (I think it's not completely muted at the end of the scream, I have no memory of hearing a single sound at this moment) that the director didn't wanted to scare the young public. This scream was so intense that Daniel Radcliffe lost his grandfather a couple of days before shooting this scene. While screaming he did make Helena Bonham Carter and Emma Watson cry.

Right before the death of Sirius, Death Eaters take Harry Potter's friends hostage and Helena Bonham Carter (I never wrote this much her name before) accidentally put her wand into Matthew Lewis's ear.

I will stop now for this article. I did two big franchises and gave mainly known facts about these sagas just to see if this kind of article is welcome or not.

If you have any movies/sagas suggestions or any anecdotes about these sagas don't be shy and comment.

And Happy Bastille Day for my French Readers.

See you next week for the next article.  We can even share a raclette together.
