The Nightmare before Christmas, a movie to watch between two major holidays

The Nightmare before Christmas is a musical cartoon directed by Henry Selick but produced by Tim Burton released in 1993. The cartoon was made in stop motion and took many hours to make 1h16 of the cartoon.

In this cartoon we follow Jack Skellington who is famous in his town because he is the star of the Halloween shows. Jack doesn't feel well because he is tired of doing the same thing each year, or in his point of view, and the mayor doesn't understand what he is saying because he only sees the perfection of Jack's performances.

While being in his thoughts in the woods Jack gets lost and finds unusual trees. Those trees have painted doors which represent a holiday each: one represents a turkey for Thanksgiving, another an egg for Easter and the last on a Christmas tree for, obviously, Christmas. Jack is more interested in the last one and appears in Christmas Town. Jack gets fascinated by the mood and colors of the Town and has an idea: do this Christmas and replace Santa Claus.

All the people of HalloweenTown work on this: they have to abduct Sandy Claws, have to make the toys for the children and, most important of all, turn Jack into Sandy Claws.

But when Jack is doing the toy delivery to the children everything goes wrong. Sally knew from the beginning that it was a bad idea and tries to free Santa Claus while Jack is doing Christmas. Jack joins her to help her because Santa Claus is the only one to be able to save Christmas.

It's hard to define when to watch this movie: for Halloween? For Christmas? I think it is better to watch it between the two holidays, like that you can enjoy a little bit more of Halloween which is quickly put aside when it is over while Christmas lasts longer because it is more festive.

5/5 The movie is great, it is for every age. It made my childhood, it is also one of my favorite Tim Burton movies.
