Looking for Richard, a way to see how to adapt a play in cinema

Looking for Richard is a movie of Al Pacino which was released in 1996. Al Pacino also has the main role in this movie, we can also find Winona Ryder, Kevin Spacey or Alec Baldwin.

This movie is about staging a play of Shakespeare. In this movie it is about Richard the third, in a 20th century movie and how to make the youth want to see Shakespeare.

In this movie the spectator can see the whole work of research to make a movie: they made researches about William Shakespeare, they asked people in the streets what they think about this kind of play, they also asked questions to specialists of Shakespeare like Kenneth Branagh, they made a stage representation to teenagers to see if they are interested, they looked for places to shoot some scenes and they learned the text together to know how Al Pacino wants it to be performed and see how the actors play it.

In this research the spectators can also see slices of the final product to not put aside the work of the actors and to know how Al Pacino saw this play performed on the silver screen.

This movie is here to help producers to stage Shakesperian plays on screen and give ideas to make the youth want to watch Shakespeare. It is also educational for those who want to learn about Shakespeare's role in theater and how a producer stages a play or a movie.

4/5 I loved this movie because of the way it introduced Shakespeare but in my point of view mixing the final product with the research can easily lose the viewer who doesn't know the play at all.
